Cavalier King Charles Spaniel

The Cavalier King Charles Spaniel (or
Cavalier) is a very popular toy dog with a generally placid
nature and friendliness. They come in a range of colors: ruby
(red), black and tan, tricolor (black and white with tan
markings) and Blenheim (a rich chestnut and white, with a white
patch down the centre of the head).
Dating back to the 14th Century, and probably
originating in Spain, they were very popular in Stuart times
and named after King Charles II of England, who shared his bed
with several! The Blenheim coloring was first bred by the
Duke of Marlborough (whose seat is Blenheim in Oxfordshire) in
the 19th Century.
